My Spanish I and II students are using the TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling) method developed by Blaine Ray. Basically, I ask a story and the students respond using the targeted vocabulary and/or phrases presented in the story. After developing and ending the story, we spend time developing a minisituation and then reading a story. Even though this is the first year I have done this, I have seen a distinct difference between this year's and last year's fluency level. I see the students succeeding. |
