It is my pleasure to welcome you to Latexo Elementary School (LES), "Home of the Tigers!" As is evident in our mission statement, our entire staff is committed to academic excellence, as well as the social enrichment and emotional support of our students. At LES, we're focused on learning for all. We work collaboratively to give our students a rich and meaningful educational experience that fosters a lifelong love of learning. Our students work hard, set and reach goals, develop successful interpersonal and workplace skills, and leave here better prepared for life's challenges. LES is proud of their standing as a TEA Recognized Campus for the 2008-2009 school year, we take pride in the many opportunities we offer our students. Please visit our website often to stay abreast of all that goes on at LES. As a Professional Learning Community (PLC), our focus is on student learning and providing a cohesive standards-based education. A PLC involves the formation of collaborative teams of teachers who ensure our students learn essential content standards in all subjects. We use curriculum maps, pacing guides, and formative assessments to monitor student learning. LES is privileged to have a wonderful and supportive P.T.O. and we welcome volunteers at school activities, including our G.I.V.E. Program, Field Days, and Open House. If you are interested in volunteering, please call our office and we will be glad to send a form for you to fill out and return. My educational philosophy centers on student learning, and I am completely committed to the concept that every student can be a successful learner. I truly believe that teachers and parents become the pathway for those educational experiences. Successful principals must promote teaching that challenges students to reach beyond merely knowing the course material. I believe students must be able to think critically, analyze information, effectively communicate orally and in writing, apply their learning in real life situations, define concepts within a global frame of reference, use technology responsibly, and be able to respond appropriately to ambiguous and changing times. Thanks for visiting my web page, and I look forward to seeing you at LES! Go Tigers! -Dr. Easterly My E-Mail is: seasterly@latexoisd.net |
