I am very excited about being a part of the Latexo Elementary Team.  I come from a family of educators and believe a person is called to be in education.  Even as a principal today, I will always be a teacher at heart.

My personal educational accomplishments include a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Masters of Education Degree in School Administration from Stephen F. Austin State University. I have been in education for 17 years. I have taught fourth grade and fifth grade at the elementary level.  My administrative duties began in Normangee ISD as Assistant Principal PK-12. From there I became Assistant Principal for Rockdale Elementary, a campus of over 800 students, for three years and then moved to Leon Elementary as Principal for the following 9 years.

I feel a Successful principal must promote teaching that reaches the student and who they are first, then challenges students to reach beyond merely knowing the course material.

"If You Can't Reach'em, You Can't Teach'em"

I believe students must be able to think critically, analyze information, effectively communicate orally and in writing, apply their learning in real life situations, use technology responsibly, and be able to respond and be successful in our ever changing times.

I have been married to Angela Kennedy for the past 16 years. Angela works for Nucor Steel as an inside Sales Representative. We have two beautiful daughters, Caitlyn and Madison.

I look forward to working with the teachers, students, and parents of Latexo to continue in the success that has been achieved.
